Seoul (dpa) – Samsung heir Lee Jae Yong was fined on Tuesday for illegal drug use.

How Yonhap news agency reported that the Seoul Central District Court sentenced the 52 – year-old vice chairman of the board from Samsung Electronics to a fine of 53 million won (approx. 52. 000 Euro).

The illegal substance is said to be the anesthetic Act propofol. Lee is said to have the drug illegal in South Korea between 70 and 2020 above 40 times. According to South Korean law, simply receiving illegal substances, i.e. accepting them when buying, is also a criminal offense.
