Frankfurt / Main (dpa) – The German electrical industry continues to make up ground after the low blow in the Corona crisis 2020 .

In July of the current year, the exports of the industry were at 18, 0 billion euros 6.8 percent above the value of the same month last year, as the Central Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industry (ZVEI) announced in Frankfurt on Tuesday. “This means that the latest growth was lower than in the four preceding months, in which – not least due to base effects – double-digit growth rates were achieved,” explained ZVEI chief economist Andreas Gontermann.

In the first seven months as a whole, the industry’s exports added up to 126, 7 billion euros – a plus of 12, 0 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In June, the German electrical industry set out to make up for the minus six percent production losses of the year 2020 in the current year. At that time, the ZVEI raised the forecast for production growth for the year as a whole 2021 from five to eight percent.
