For the current year The airport association ADV (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Verkehrsflughäfen) expects a total operational loss of all locations of around 1.5 billion euros, as association president Stefan Schulte said in Schönefeld. The industry came together for two days for a conference at the local capital airport BER. 2020 the loss due to the collapse in passenger numbers in the Corona crisis was 2.1 billion euros.

«Unfortunately our numbers for 2021 so that you can see that we are still in dire economic straits, ”said Schulte. In the pre-crisis year 2019 the industry still had an operating profit of 800 million euros recorded.

But even in the best week of this summer, the number of passengers at the German airports was only at 55 Percent of a comparable week before the crisis, it was said.
