Wiesbaden (dpa) – Industry in Germany has more than doubled its investments in climate protection within ten years thanks to government funding.

More than half (52, 4 percent) of the companies’ climate protection investments 2019 therefore went into use renewable energies, such as wind power or photovoltaic systems (1, 81 billion euros). Another 1, 10 billion euros (33, 1 percent), for example, investments were made in the thermal insulation of buildings in order to save energy.

At 3.6 percent per year 2009, the share of climate protection measures in total investment by German industry was still comparatively low . The statisticians explained that the share has increased by one percentage point within ten years, among other things with state funding: The state has been promoting the conversion to production processes that use less energy and protect the climate for years.
